The Flipper Magnet has become a household name for their popular Flipper aquarium glass cleaner magnets and recently we learned about a new product they are releasing next month and called the DeepSee. Similar to the IVS Portal, the DeepSee will magnify objects between 3″ and 8″ away from the aquarium glass however there are some differences between the two products. The IVS Portal is both a magnifier and glass cleaner for light duty cleaning. The Portal works with glass and acrylic thicknesses up to 1/2″ but it is really not designed to remove stubborn algae and coralline algae when it begins to grow on the glass. The DeepSee magnifier is not an aquarium glass cleaner but it will hold on to glass thicknesses up to 5/8″ by AquaNerd | Oct 25, 2018 | Equipment, Science
More control through power loss monitoring With the GHL Power Cut adapter, you can now trigger emergency backup functions and receive notifications when an outage occurs. This is a feature that many GHL aquarists will be happy to hear about. How it works The ProfiLux Power Cut Adapter continuously monitors the voltage running through your ProfiLux 4 controller. If at anytime the adapter detects a voltage drop or power loss, the ProfiLux will automatically activate a user-defined emergency backup function to keep the essentials running. To get started, you only need a backup power source for your essential equipment (incl. P4 controller) and a GHL Power Cut adapter. Setup Simply connect the power cut monitor to the LIN.MON port on the back of the P4, then by AquaNerd | Aug 24, 2018 | Equipment

The real pleasures of an aquarium are often overshadowed by the struggle of upkeep. Worse yet, aquatic animals are unnecessarily sacrificed everyday when parameters like temperature drift into lethal ranges due to failed equipment or other mishaps. A proper monitoring and control system for your aquarium solves both these problems. And while the Apex has been out for years, Neptune Systems realized there was a void in their product offering. Creating a more affordable, entry-level next generation model was needed, and now the need is filled with the ApexEL. The ApexEL makes keeping your aquarium easier while also monitoring key parameters such as temperature, pH, and the health of your connected equipment, for under $500.00.
