Here is an update from the Pet Advocacy network which was formally known as PIJAC. Bill Jones switched their name as of last Tuesday just so you are all aware of the change. As expected, the Senate has amended HR4521 replacing the House’s language with the Senate’s USICA language (S1260) and sent HR4521 back to the House as of Monday, March 28th. This sets up the next steps for a conference committee. Another Update from PIJAC as it relates to the Lacey Act (H.R.4521) SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2022 REPOSTED WITH PERMISSION OFÂ PIJAC There has been considerable conversation, and unfortunately also some incorrect interpretations, over the past days concerning amendments to the Lacey Act that are included in the COMPETES Act of 2022, and we want to set the record straight. The fact is that these amendments are still included in the legislation that will be considered by the Senate, they were not removed prior to H.R. 4521 passing in the House. And the more important fact is that these amendments pose a significant threat to everyone who owns, breeds, raises, transports, sells, or provides products and services to care for all animals other than cats and dogs. By now it is no surprise why MASNA decided to cancel MACNA 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia but why reschedule and relocate the show to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for 2022 instead of keeping the show in Atlanta for 2021? At first thought maybe it was just that the venue wasn’t available in 2022 but maybe there is something else going on with the decision to move the show to Wisconsin in 2022.
