Just last week we made an announcement about a new a new captive bred fish called the Striped Dottyback (Pseudochromis sankei) and just a week later Sea & Reef is back in the news with a new captive bred damselfish called the Lemon Damsel (Pomacentrus moluccensis). Damsel are very interesting to most reef aquarists but this one active, very hardy and peaceful compared to some of the other damsel species. Captive Bred Pseudochromis sankeyi (Striped Dottyback)

The Striped Dottyback (Pseudochromis sankeyi) is often called the Sankey’s Dottyback. This beautiful little fish has white and black stripes running down the length of its body. The fins are translucent and the tail fin almost tapers to a point. It is one of the more peaceful species in the Pseudochromis family and is reef safe. A 30 gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of hiding places is ideal for this species. The Striped Dottyback is native to the Southern Red Sea and western Indian Ocean and limited collection from these areas makes it increasingly difficult to come by wild collected fish. Meet the New Designer Clownfish, the Gold Lightning Maroon

Sea & Reef has been busy releasing new varieties of captive bred fish over the last 3 weeks and today they announced a third captive bred variety in as many weeks. The new release is called the Gold Lightning Maroon clownfish. We learned from Sea & Reef that the Gold Lightning Maroon Clownfish is a designer clownfish that was created by breeding a Sea & Reef Lightning Maroon Clownfish with a Sea & Reef Gold Nugget Clownfish. The offspring from this unique crossing display a variety of interesting patterns. The Gold Lightning Maroon (Premnas biaculeatus) reaches a maximum size of about 6″ (15 cm) in length.
