Melibe colemani was only recently described in 2012. This out-of-this-world sea slug is reportedly abundant in the shallow reefs of Indonesia, but it alluded science for so long because … well … it’s hard to imagine this thing could possibly be an animal. The gnarly mass of tubes are actually this sea slug’s digestive glands.
Here is the first video (by globaldivemedia.com) we have seen of Melibe colemani. It really makes you wonder what other organisms we haven’t discovered yet!
