"Honey! What the heck is THAT?"

It has eight arms, diameter of a quarter. When food hits an arm the entire arm is immediately plunged into it's mouth and retracted slowly. Very delicate looking but only sways slightly in the current.

Any ideas?

After observing for a few days it is still in the same location. I have spotted a total of three, all on the same rock.

OK, two of them have moved to different rocks. I might be able to get a better picture now. Anyone have any guesses? Are these things bad news?

nope. Have had several (hundred?). No problem. Actually quite entrancing to watch those tentacles pull in mid-water column particulates.
