Help with ID

A brief introduction. I just set this tank up a week ago, and it is my first attempt at a coral reef tank. I have had freshwater tanks for about 20 years. This creature only comes out when the light are off and the tentacles reach lengths of up to 10-12 inches. This came inside the rock and I have not been able to see the main section of the creature since it is burrowed into this rock. I have searched everywhere looking for something similar but I have had no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe they are those nasty (Just cause I don't like em) tube worms that use spit threads to get food.

Thanks for the information. I believe you are correct. I just recently purchased the remaining LR to place in the tank and a couple of those piece also have one of those nasty things in them. I could have done without that ugly mess.

They are worms from the family terebellidae. Their common name is spagetti worm. They are harmless deposit feeders that feed by catching detritus on a ciliated mucus groove on their white tenticles. They are actually helpful little creatures that will help you with nutriant export. They are also fascinating to watch. I don't know why the investigator doesn't like them.

Yes, those are good worms and you should be happy to have them.

They will help keep your tank clean of leftover bits of food and detritis.

I thought spaghetti worms lived in the sand...?

I don't like them cause they put out a mucus string and it looks like crap when a whole bunch of em are all over your tank.
