Experienced Reefer
i have trawled the web trying to find any info on a hitchiker that i got with an acro i bought on the weekend.
there is a typical tan coloured sps crab on there that i noticed when i bought it.
when i got the coral home though i noticed a very small animal..like a very small lobster with a translucent body, black antenae and typicaly long extended claws?
it definetly looks more like a lobster and a crab.
sorry for the lack of pic but i cant get a close enough shot of the little bleeder!

seems to live in harmony with the crab though?
if anyone has any idea of a name or even better a link to some pics feel free to help as i have not seen one before?
:D

Advanced Reefer
Probably some form of commensal shrimp, they frequently inhabit burrows and the interstitial spaces of corals and sponges. Finding a name will be difficult for that exact species (in your tank), but you can likely find a Genus eventually.

If you are seeing claws, it is almost definitely a type of shrimp. Another common thing is a filter feeding mechanism (attached to a shrimp) that pokes out to drag its filters thru the water (and lives in corals).
