New Reefer
This little worker appeared 2 weeks into the cycle. He was toodling along the front edge of the sand next to the glass, leaving a nice clean white trail in the sand. I thought it was a cleaner snail of some sort until he stopped and burrowed into the sand a bit. I poked a little and he flopped onto one of his 'sides. He looks like a little clam or mussle. He is about 1/2" to 3/4" long. Notice on one of the pics how the shells open up and his soft pinkish body kinda slips out.
He is now setting on the live rock where he has been since last night.
Thanks for any help with an id. I wonder if he will survive, if he is reef safe and if he will end up being dinner for a clean up crew that will be added early next week.

Looks like some type of Mussel to me. Could also be some type of Arca sp. (Turkey Wing Clam).
