I purchased this as a "umbrella polyp", which is the common name for Discosoma neglecta. However, i'm thinking its actually a Discosoma carlgreni "forked tentacle mushroom". Anyone know which it is?
Check this article to see if you can distinguish between the two given the detailed descriptions. It says they sometimes hybridize, so there's always the chance that you have one of those.
Yeah i saw those before, and I'm leaning towards the carlgreni. Mine has those little 'tentacles' on the surface of the disk whereas the neglecta has them on the edges. Its just a little closer to the carlgreni.
It wouldnt be the first time the LFS has mis-ID'd something
