Looks like an encrusting Gorgonian. Does it have a mat or runners?

We need to see the mat to make a positive ID. Could be Briareum sp. - gray/cream mat or a pachyclavularia sp. purple mat.

I think that recently Briareum was replaced by Pachiclavularia, so they should be the same...

thanks for the help, but this is not an actual photo. My friend just set up a tank and doesnt really have a good camera to take a good picture. he found this picture online and says his looks like it. Next week I will let him take my camera and get a few pictures and then post them. Thanks
