ID: weird snot growing on rock

Not gonna take a photo cause I doubt it'd show up. Anywho, on two of my supposedly "dead" rocks (have other live rocks in the tank) there appears to be feathery snot growing. Almost looks like clear mold. I'm concerned as to weather this is nice flora, or something I need to try and get rid of. Anyone have ideas? I'm new to this, and my experienced friend who is help me didn't have any ideas.

Sounds like it could be some genus and species of Porifera (sponge). See if you can get some pictures.

It's starting to get feathery, as in blowing in the current.

Looks like I'm going to get some interesting growths regardless.

Okay, well, whatever it is, it's really taken a liking to my rocks. There's mroe of it now. I'm kind of getting worried since it appears to spread and grow quick. I guess I'll wait and see what develops, but in the case that it's nasty, what can I do?

The larger picture helps some.
I answered Lutra through a PM but until I get a reply I would say since this is a new tank with new rock this is simply decaying matter. The description threw me at first and I'm guessing this is more like a thick spider web type thing.
If so, just blow it off with a turkey baster or powerhead and siphon it out. Nothing to worry about and can be normal on new rock.

Well we cleaned the rocks, but in the process we scared the living daylights out of my spotted damsel and I'm not thinking he'll pull through. He was doing so well too.

^Nope. Died withing 5 minutes. I have no clue why he got so freaked, I really think he must have gotten accidentally squished. Checked the water and everything is perfect, so go figure. We're not *too* upset cause he would have fought with the clown I eventually want anyway.
