I purchased a live rock, and after being in the water a short time, out of a hole in this rock comes what looks like a caterpillar. It is dark brown with some light brown markings, it has spikes sticking up from its back, and it has clear tubes coming from its front end that appears to be sifting through the substrate. Can anyone please tell me what it is, and if it okay to stay ?

It's a sea cucumber. It'll clean the sandbed. Looks like the harmless type to.

Thanks so much for the ID. I am still learning about saltwater, but I can tell you I have never had anything I enjoy so much, it never gets boring. There is always a new creature to be enthused about. This site is awesome!

Okay, now that you told what it is can you tell me where the info. would be to tell me how to care for it? :?: I can not find anything that looks like it.
