I found this thing growing on my coral. There are also other ones, but much smaller in my little tank. Its very yellow, and has two little tubes sticking out of it. Have any ideas? It does not appear to be bothering my coral. The coral is a bit puckered up right now because I just fed it - normally its totally relaxed, even with his friend.

Yup. I'd say that's a sponge.

Any chance you could resize the pic?

Thanks for all the replies. I will try to make the next picture smaller (in dimension, not just kb).

All sorts of neat things appeared after I got rid of my flake eaters and went to a lean tank. Now I have only coral, hermits, shrimp, and an algae blenny. I hardly even add food to the tank. It just goes. I keep the algae around for the critters, but even so; its much more orange and purple now. One of my half dead corals is actually coming back to life. At one point he was just a tiny bubble in the bottom of his skeleton.

The fire shrimp seem to survive ok on the little bugs and stuff in the tank. Every week or so, I put a pinch of flakes on the surface for them and they swim on their backs and gobble it up pretty cleanly.

Its been going this way for about 5 months now.

Anyway - lesson learned. Don't over feed.

Thanks again.
