Hello!
I purchased an Octocoral of the Alcyoniidae (leather coral) family but I am unsure which species it is. I would guess either Sinulara or Alcyonium. I know it's very hard to make a determination from a photo but I will include one and describe it as best I can.
It's hard to see in the photos but it does appear to have tiny polyps. My understanding of Octocoral is that they all have at least autozooids which are a type of polyp. I have observed it closely at different times of the day and have never seen them extend. When I gently rubbed my finger across the surface, I am reminded of velvet. The coral as a whole is very flexible.
The picture labeled YFC3 is a close up to try and show more texture. The coral is much more yellow than it appears in the photo. The picture labeled YFC2 shows the coral in it's entirety and more accurately shows it's color.
Cheers!
