Due to an unforseen occurrence, the chat session scheduled for this Sat, Feb 2nd, is rescheduled for Sun, Feb 3rd, 11AM to 2PM EST.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Can you please post this to the aquaristcourses site as a news item as well? Might be worth sending a group email from the site too (right margin has the option).

Thanks!

I am going to Chicago to Strictly Sail to look at race sailboats and equipment with the owner of the sailboat I race.

Sunday is SUPERBOWL SUNDAY...

kickoff isn't until 6:18 EST. besides, you're west coast, you're not going to be at a superbowl party at 8AM, are you??

Many people are hosting/having parties and will need that day to get things in order or sleep in. Its a poor weekend to switch a course time, but I don't see that there is any reprieve unless a duplicate chat session is held during the week for those that miss the original.

Sorry to anyone this has inconvenienced!

YOU KNOW, BECAUSE YOU'VE SWITCHED THE TIME OR THE DATE OR WHATEVER, I'VE MISSED ALL THE CHAT SESSIONS. THE FIRST ONE WAS MY ERROR, BUT SINCE -- YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!!

I'VE GOT 60 PEOPLE COMING AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY AND I DON'T HAVE TIME TO SPEND "IN SCHOOL"

GET REAL. I'M SURE YOUR CHANGE IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU MUST MAKE THE CLASS ON SUPERBOWL SUNDAY. AND TELLING ME THAT I'VE GOT TIME IS JUST BULLSHIT!!!!

first of all, maybe you're on a work comp that only does caps, but if not...

DON'T THROW A TANTRUM AND YELL OR CURSE AT ME.

second, you hassled me during the first rescheduled chat because you said i didn't specify EST, when i actually did. when you brought that up, the others participating in that day's chat corrected you and maybe that got you a little sore, because it became obvious you were accusing me of something you made up out of thin air. nice job, very graceful.

third, if you don't have time to spend in chats OR to read the transcripts, then what you're saying is that you don't have time to participate in an online course that you enrolled and paid for. what exactly do you expect me to do about that? i pointed out in another thread that the chats tied together the more academic reading material, and if you go back and read the chats, people participating express very positive feedback regarding the way the material is presented. i've even been contacted by another instructor here on MACO for tips about how to conduct the course, because students who were enrolled in both our classes had such positive things to say about this one.

while we're at it, let me address a concern you expressed on day one that may still be irking you: the material. reefkeeping is at it's foundation a biology-based hobby. one cannot discuss any topic relating to reefkeeping at any real depth without referring to the underlying biology or chemistry. i liken it to the overlap of knowledge between say a farmer and a botanist; whether either of them realizes it or not, they share much of the same knowledge, and one can learn something from the other. the syllabus presented during the pre-registration period was very clear and i have stuck to it faithfully. additionally it was very clear from the syllabus and MACO advertising that this is a science-based course. i'm not sure what exactly you were expecting...

...BUT I THINK YOUR CRITICISMS TO DATE ARE EXTREMELY UNFAIR!!! ARRRGGGHHH!! (lol)

AS PRESUMPTIOUS AS YOU ARE -- F-U!

I DID NOT CHANGE ANY SCHEDULING. THAT WAS YOU.

IF YOU TOOK THE TIME TO READ MY POST, YOU'D SEE I ADMIT IT WAS MISTAKEN ON THE FIRST CHAT. AS FOR THE MATERIAL, IT'S FINE. T

HE CHATS HOWEVER HAVE MUCH TO BE DESIRED. AS I INFORMED WADE. THERE IS, UP UNTIL NOW, MAYBE TEN MINUTES OF INFORMATION IMPARTED IN YOUR "LECTURE" AND THE REST OF THE THREE HOURS IS FLUFF. FOR A "PROFESSOR" YOU'VE GOT A LOT TO BE DESIRED. IS THAT WHY YOU TEACH ONLINE??

I SENT YOU ME EMAIL. DO YOU KNOW HOW TO USE EMAIL??? IS IT TO COMPLICATED FOR YOU TO INFORM SOMEONE BY EMAIL OF THE CHANGES YOU MAKE EVERY WEEK??? NOT SCIENTIFIC ENOUGH??? TOO MUNDANE???

ENOUGH OF THE BARBS. TAKE YOUR COURSE AND PUT IT WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE! YOU WON'T HEAR FROM ME AGAIN.

lol, yeah, ok.

first you complained the material was "incomprehensible", now it's all fluff. maybe if you opened your mouth to do something other than complain, say oh i dunno... CONVERSE, ask questions, you'd actually learn something. i've said repeatedly that i'm willing to accomodate various levels of participants... wait - was was that word?

P-A-R-T-I-C-I-P-A-N-T.

your yelling, rants and cursing aren't only inappropriate, they're just crazy. must be fun pretending to be three years old though! WAHHHH!

Please note that if anyone has issues with a course or the instructor, to directly contact me so that we can work out any misunderstandings.

The entire purpose, as was stated earlier, to having chat sessions is not to forcefeed anyone the information that was provided a week in advance of the session for independent reading. I'm very sorry if someone cannot make a session directly - but that is why they are posted as transcripts. If you have specific questions regarding the material that are not covered, by all means, please use the forums.

I'm locking this thread in order to eliminate any additional hassles.
