clam lost its foot....HELP

i just got the maxima clam from that pet place on Sunday, when i got home the actual foot was detached in the bag... is their anything i need to do to save this clam or is it a goner?? can it still live with out its foot permanently? it still responds to light and touch....HELP!!!

I'm no clam expert, but I will say this, when there is any stress signs for a clam, or it loses any of it's mantle, or anything else for that matter, it's usually will have a slow death. Also, Once you see the clam mantle have a small space from it's shell, it's also highly that it will most likely pass...

over a year ago i bought one with a really bad teared up foot & it recovered fine so good luck with yours

Is it the actual foot or just the byssas threads?
