nitrate problem

have a 130 gal reef tank stocked with sps lps. i cannot get nitrate levels down. nitrate is 15 to 20 ppm phos 0 cal 500 mag 1650 . have a new skimmer skimz 215 works great .have phosban reactor with rowe runnng tank is 4 years old no problems except nitrate and corals dying sometimes. do water changes every week 15%.have ro unit 3 stage . have 5 fish and do not feed daily. i think i am doing everything right. new skimmer has been working for 1 month use to have sump buddy 40 not big enough.

What do you have in your filter. Sometimes nitrate is caused by garbage stuck in sponges, bioballs, etc.

Who's Nitrate test kit are you using ? Try testing some fresh salt mix to see what it reads.

Nitrates don't just go away on their own what do you have to deal with the nitrates? (Refugium, Deep sand bed, live rock, etc)

And lots of water changes do 30%.
