Well just mixed some up for water change like 40 gallons and have it in the bucket with circ pump and heater for the last 10 hours and the water is still cloudy and reading over 13dkh when it should be 12dkh has anyone had issues with this salt? did a 10 percent water change like 10 gallons on my 120 gallon tank and noticed it even looks cloudy in the tank hope I don't get an alk swing..guess I better get them on the phone..

I heard somewhere that if you have the salt in the bucket first then add the water it might be cloudy because some things precipitate out, but if you fill the bucket with water first then mix the salt in it shouldn't happen. I didn't bother testing it since I just happen to fill it with water first. Anyone know if this is true or am I just reefing too late at night :sleeping:

Yes, that is true. You never add water to salt but add salt to water. However, if you add to much salt to fast the same thing can happen.

Neways coming to the topic.Recently i was going through a thread in a differnt forum where the guy has mentioned that a certain batch of RSCP salt was found to have very high dkh.. #manufacturing problems

That could be Shilad, many salt companies have had this issue in the past, what we call a "bad-batch". IO was the last with with a Alk through the roof. Last year RSCP changed their formula, as RSCP use to mix to 7-8 dKH and now is jacked up to 12-13 dKH, according to my RS tech bulletin pdf.
