Hi,

A friend of mine created a disign for a Nilsen reactor that is pretty easy and cheap to build, but is very efficient.

The best features are the lack of magnetic stirrer and the fact that the mixing pump really doesn't go bad with time.

Translated plan and building method here:

Original plans are here:

I know one reefs.org person is using one such beast right now and is quite happy with it...

Hi Nico,

Thanks for the instructions. I am thinking of trying this. I have a couple of questions.

1) What do you use in the reactor? Pickling lime powder?

2) I have a top off powered by an air pump that presurizes the holding tank and forces r/o to the tank. If i run the r/o to the reactor and the reactor to the tank, will this work? I am not sure if the air pump will force the water through the reactor and upto the tank, but if it did it would be at a slow rate.

Can you translate the rest of the instructions? Maintenance?

Thanks,
