I have a situation where the alkalinity is very high (about 6meq), but the pH is low(7.5). what could be going on?

The likely explanations are:

1. A measurement error of some sort

2. The tank and/or home has a great elevation of CO2. Elevated indoor CO2 or too much CO2 from a CaCO3/CO2 reactor can do this.

3. The alkalinity is coming largely from borate (as in Seachem salt mix) and not carbonate alkalinity.
