hi,
iam pulling my hair out with ph dropping,ive wrote threads asking for advice with this on going problem and nothing seems to work,i cant hold my ph above 7.8,ive tried everything even read the article on solving ph problems.
right ere we go tried air stones thinkin it might be c02,tried drippin kalkwasser,adding buffer,u name it ive tried it,various test kitts new and old ph metres from various fish stores all end up reading the same 7.8,after trying all these methods ph will be reading 8.2-8.4 but few days later reading 7.8
my water params kh=12,calc=420,salin=1.024,ph=7.8morning.7.8evening,ligting 6 t5 tubes 4wht 2 blue on 10hrs daily,tank 50 gall,6 fish,and soft coral only,0 niterite and ammonia,low niterate and phos,5gall wc every week ro water using kent salt,addatives,iodine strontium and turbocalc when required.
ps what am i doing wrong i know that a ph of 7.8 is ok,i would like it to stay around 8.2,oh i nearly forgot all my fish,corals,inverts r looking ok with this low ph readin,my filter is fluval 404 with 2 maxi jets 1200 breaking the water surface and a cheap and nasty lees scimmer which is going in the bin after xmas :x

So when you aerated water with outside air, did the pH rise?

When using limewater or aeration with outside air to raise pH, you must continue them forever, or else the pH will drop back.
