I've just read a thread on another site that this seems to be the new thing in Australia, They are using this product for dosing calcium in their reefs. Does anyone know if there been any testing on this product or know anyone who is using it. Also if it safe to use... is it cost effective over reef related cal products like turbo calcium etc...

Funny - last month my local Home Depot ran out of bags of ice melting salts and was selling Damp Rid as an alternative. Not too cost effective as a salt melt replacement, but certainly cheaper than pet store products. The stuff may be pure enough for using in a reef system, but I think a bulk amount like

might be cheaper.

I have been using bjs brand calcium chloride for my 2 part. I have never had any problems or unwanted growth. It come in a 5 gallon pail and is $20. I think it is identical to prestone driveway heat at 1/3 the price.
