Went away for the weekend got back monday night and all of my sps and acans were closed right before the lights went out so i wake up tues and the temp is at 73 which isnt normal it is usually around 75 in the morning gets up to 78 during the day, i keep the heater at 77.. so i thought my heater was malfunctioning and i added another heater and set the new one to 78.. the temp has been back to normal, however now my purple deaths and nuclear greens have closed up also, all other zoas and my birdsnests and toadstool dont look to be affected..
I added 2 small fish on thursday and on friday i did a water change and cleaned the skimmer and skimmer pump(never seen it work so well now)..
I ran some tests for the first time in about 6 months and what i got was this(all elos kits):
temp: 76.9
sg:1.025
nh3/4:.05 prob because of the new fish
po4:0 or .01 (theres a slight tint of blue)
ph:8.3
no2 and 3 both 0 i believe, the water in the vile has a light peachy tint unlike what the colors are on the chart (red/pink)
today was more of the same although 1-2 of the acans look to be opening slightly, sps (i have about 15 of them are all closed still) just now i went ahead and tested the calcium:400 (usually around 450) and the dkh:6 which i know is low, whenever ive tested it was always at 8 and i tested my waterchange water and that came in at 7...temp was 77.2 on the tank
one of the fish I added was a tibicin angel (small), i realize i took a chance and i noticed it picking at the palys and 1 or 2 of my sps but i dont see any visible signs of damage so i think it was just picking at whatever was on the corals..i cant imagine that being the problem but if i see any signs of damage to the corals hes gone..
Could the dkh being so low be the problem? tomorrow i will do another water change. I have no clue what the problem could be any help would be greatly appreciated!!
