Hey Reefers! Today's Topic: Aquacultured Corals!
So what are Aquacultured Corals? If you are unfamiliar with them, Aquacultured corals are corals that have been "farmed" in a controlled setting! They are specific, selected strains of a coral that have been grown in captivity for generations! Essentially, a single coral that was once in the wild, removed, grown, and cut, over and over again, producing thousands of frags that have been wide spread and shared in our hobby for years! They are the perfect corals for both seasoned and new Reefers alike!
All types of corals have been Aquacultured over the years! Everything from Acros to Zoas, sometimes several times over! Aquacultured corals are usually selected to grow for their absolutely unreal coloration! Making them some of the craziest corals to keep in our hobby! What also makes Aquacultured corals interesting to keep, is their names! Reefers have been churning our wild names for certain Aquacultured corals for years, making them very collectable! With some being highly desirable! Who wouldn't want to add a "Dragon Slayer" Acropora, or a "Multidimensional" Favia to their reef?
There are many reasons why buying Aquaculture just makes sense! They are extremely well adapted to aquarium life. Having very good survival rates both in the tank and during transit. They are usually selected to be Aquacultured due to their super vibrant coloration, and their reputation as fantastic growers! Making them highly fraggable and frequently available! These 3 characteristics are what makes Aquaculture so popular! Not to mention they are Eco-Friendly, and much easier to identify by name! Being generations removed from the ocean, there is also a significantly less chance of pest, hitchhikers, and disease!
We regularly offer 100+ different named Aquacultured Corals at any given time. With more and more strains being added weekly! If you have never considered Aquaculture, the time is now! Some of the brightest, most incredibly colored corals in today's hobby are Aquacultured, with many more emerging all the time! Check out our massive selection of Aquacultured Frags below! We included a fly over video and blue light pictures of some of our favorite ones!
