Anyone know how i can drop the water line to make it viewable below my black brace. Going rimless is just too expensive. Im assuming its just a matter of cutting the slits in the built in overflows lower but thought maybe there was another way.

I havnt bought the tank yet so if its easier to just get external overflows than i can do that as well but thought built in overflows were safer. If they are safer i rather diy the builtin overflows to drop the water line!

Thanks!

If you have an overflow box it's easy, just adjust the inside box a little lower. If you have a reef ready tank determine where you want your water line to be, and mask off that level on your teeth. then with a roto zip bit (the one they use to cut sheetrock with) attached to a dremel. cut away till you just hit the masking tape. Good Luck.

If you look at the "megaflow" built in overflow from allglass it seems that there is a wall behind the teeth. So im not sure that the water line will drop simply by cuttting the teeth down.

The water would still have to flow up this secondary wall.

I wonder how this would look. Wish there were videos or pictures out there.

I'm just curious why you would want the water line below the brace? A rimless is a rimless for looks. But having the water line below the brace? I guess it is a personal preference. But once you modify that tank to do this, it will really never be able to be brought back to normal use, this could hurt you "if" you ever tried to sell it.

Good points. For me its not a matter of being rimless. I want to see the water line for reasons of waves and vortechs. Plus if the water line were higher, water could spill over the sides with a nice wave. By bringing the line down i can get a nice wave without spills and see it too!

So if i had a rimless, id still have to drop the line some. :0)

Ok I was just curious. I guess you are really looking to make a hurricane. I like not seeing the waterline. I can tell that the turbulence is there from the light shimmer. But it is your tank. I was just wondering.
