So i have a 29 gallon tank that does not have a overflow in it. What i am wondering is if i can drill 2 holes in the back of the tank for the in and out to a sump. I have freshwater now and i know it works for that just wondering it i can do it for saltwater i really dont want to have a hangover system.

Thanx in advance guys

Well it all depends. You actually do not even need an overflow kit. You can just simply put a bulkhead in the back and then a 90 degree elbow out of the bulkhead and you can control the water level with a piece of PVC with a strainer on the top. In that case you can put the hole where ever and use the pvc at the height you want.

If you want to go with a kit for an overflow then it will come with a template where you put it on the back of the tank at the top and just drill the holes with it..
