I am planning on building my stand. Some of the custom addition i will make are adding a small tray that slides under the tank so that when I have to do some work, I can just pull it out and put my utensils there. I will also put some acrylic panels at the bottom so that If I spill water, it will not spill on the wood. I was also thinking of putting liquid rubber on the inside just to make it water resistant, but I am still debating that. I first think it's an overkill, and two i am not quite sure if the liquid rubber can be toxic to my system. I was also thinking of adding two computer fan that shoot damp air outside of the stand.
What else can I incorporated that would make the stand awesome?
Thanks

The fans seem pretty awesome...maybe you incorporate an on/off switch for the fans, just in case...aaannndd maybe you could make a partition of the stand just be dedicated to electrical stuff, separated by plexi or something-like the red sea series tanks have....and maybe a cup holder...tv remote holder?..... XD good luck with the build!

oh and the liquid rubber seems pretty cool also...id just do alot of research before coating the part of the stand that contains the heart of my tank with chemicals.

one thing I wanted, was for the stand to be tall enough so that I can actually do work on the sump, so one of the benefit is to have a lot of space for the electrical equipment, which will be put in a water tight acrylic partition. The liquid rubber is something I saw on youtube. Somebody build a plywood aquarium (i know seems crazy)and he coated the inside of the aquarium with this liquid rubber. I thought it would work on the inside of the stand. But I might not do it, seems to be an overkill.

Hey hey if we are going with a computer fan cooled stand here, then we are already in the realm of overkill....if you can get in touch with the guy who did it or it proves to be safe somehow...id do it lol. And you know whats better than a single fan cooled stand? A dual fan cooled stand. An intake and an exhaust fan would definitely fall into the realm of both awesome and functional.
