Hello All,
I recently succeded in my first real fish related DIY. :givebeer: I have a 34 gallon AIO tank. The hood had MH lighting which I really liked. However, I had to purchase a chiller to keep my tank cool. After almost a year of running the chiller, my wife ready to kill me because it was SO loud, I decided search for a new light.
I wanted a light that I could build into my hood but, still use when I upgrade tank and no longer need the hood. I researched for a while and decided to go with Fathom (btw, their customer service is amazing!!).
1) Took the MH reflector and LED moonlights out of the hood.
2) Used a dremel to cut a hole in the top of my hood to create a vent for the LED's fan (on top of fixture). I can't cut a straight line! :banghead: My hood already had side vents for the MH's.
3) Drilled a holes in the top of the hood and screwed fixture in.
So far, I love the light and the wife is super happy that we no longer have a chiller in our living room! :inlove:
