Cracked Acrylic Sump!!!

New Sump arrived "Cracked"!!!

Before you ask, the vendor already shipped me a replacement at no additional cost! He already put in a claim with the freight company (shipper).

I was going to toss this nice looking sump, but someone told me it's fixable!! And that is why I'm posting here pictures with questions.

For those that build acrylic or own acrylic sumps, or had instant in the past that your sump cracked.
1) Who here can fix this sump?
2) Is this something I can do?
3) Will just using weldon fix it? What # Weldon?

I believe it's Weldon #16 it's thicker..or if its just a hairline crack get Weldon #4
It's more of a liquid and inject with a syringe in crack should bond it right away

Some freight companies may have a policy of inspecting the packaging and item, don't modify it yet.

You can use 16 to weld on a piece of home depot acrylic and it will be as strong or even stronger.

The crack is also high enough that u can crack the piece of and then weld back on.

I would do the home depot piece, weld on the inside of the sump and weld on to cracked panel and also the edge the home depot acrylic onto the side of sump. Edge and flat side both glued on for reinforcement.

Nice looking sump though, hope you can fix it ( always nice having extra)
