I am trying to create a dual water reservoir system - one for fresh RODI, and one to hold salt water.

I currently have the RODI water emptying in to a 32g roughneck trash bin - I have the float valve at about 8" from the top. I would guestimate I max out at 25g storage.

I would like to have a second bin right next to it for saltwater.

My thoughts were to have the RODI empty to bin 1, have a PVC connector (with bulkheads) connect the two bins, and have a float valve on bin 2 located under the PVC connector.

With this my bin 2 would be salt water. Because the float valve is under the PVC connector the two bins do not mix water.

Here is the problem - The float valve and the tube for the incoming water from the RODI system is connected to each other. What to do ? Is there another float valve I can use?

What I've seen for this is an external pump with valves between the two bins.

The bulkheads and pvc is at the bottom of the bins. The saltwater bun also has a bulkhead on top.

An external pump is used to fill the saltwater bin from the rodi one and when the rodi valve is shut off it os used to mix the saltwater. The bulkheads being on the bottom you can also have a valve to create a faucet for each bin to fill a bucket..

Theres a good thread on RC..I'll see if i can find the link.

Actually, after discussing with the dude at BRS I did something even easier and wondered why it had to be so difficult!

I simply tee'd off the output on the RODI unit to both containers with their own float valve.

Done.
