Re-staining stand questions

Hello all. I'm thinking of sanding and restaining my stand. The wood is pine. I originally used polyshades which was a nightmare.

My questions are what's sand paper grid should I use to remove my current stain? And which base stain should I get oil or water? And should add a poly to seal in the stain?

I saw in home depot they were selling cabinet kits for refacing. They were in paint section, ton of varieties to pick from maybe worth a look. They were for kitchen cabinets but similar thought I would imagine
