Float valve rusted?

Hi guys. I have a Q. What are doing with metal clip on float valve. When I inspect mine today I found that metal clip is rusted a little. I am using it in my sump to add RO from unit ( like auto top of). Was thinking about to replace this metallic part, but what to use.? Nothing came up in my head. Anybody have any idea? Tnx.

Looks like you could get a long bolt with a nut and not tighten.

try the middle piece of a plastic q- tip, heat and bend the ends.

Maybe a wooden dowel or plasctic zip tie? Aside from keeping the arm attached to the nut what other purpose does the metal clip serve? It may have a function that would be hard to replace with something else. FWIW I believe BRS sells a float valve made up of all plastic parts. Maybe just replace it with one of those.

Tip the float down so the clip stays dry

Yes. Try to drill the new holes in sump ( higher, for put the tip down). And silicone the visible part. Tnx everybody. But defenetly will try to find metall replacement.
