I was wondering if anyone can hlep me build a protein skimmer? If there's a website that shows your the plan and what not, i would love it if you guys can show me...
Take a look at the DIY section here. The site belongs to the the moderator of Reef Central's DIY forum. Also, take a look at Reef Central's DIY forum. You will find a great many threads devoted to skimmers.
Here is a link about SnailMan's skimmers. I am currently building the 4" model for my ten gallon nano reef. Snailman's skimmer a winner
Yeah, I agree. Actually, it is 20 gallons if you include the sump. I went with the 4" because I had most of the PVC on hand. I don't plan on using it long term.
Shane,
I am going to build a 4" skimmer based on the design on Snailman's page. I was actually concerned that it wouldn't be efficient since I don't have enough room to make it a minimum of 28" as you recommeded in your article. It's gonna be for a 15gal nano that I am setting up at work. (Did you see that 15gal r/r when you went to Ed's to pick up that pump?)
I bought a big chunk of basswood off Ebay as recommended and am going to use some 4" clear PVC that I had laying around. Are you saying that I don't need to worry about height as much? I was gonna shoot for around a 20" water column/reaction chamber.
Sorry if this seems off-topic, after reading shane's response, it stimulated thought and I had to act before I lost it.
