hi guys , i know im far from being an expert but this is how i built a cheap fast refuge for my set up.
i bought a 5 1/2 gallon aga
rio 180
2 ft 1/2 tube
5in 3/4 tube
shut off valve for drain hose
now what i did was put a metal brace on top of my sump and a peice of wood against side of stand and screwed it on.put the 5 gal on top of brace and wood.hooked the pump into sump with hose and u tube.hooked the drain up with shut off valve hanging into sump.turned on pump and siphoned drain.now this took a little while,i had to adjust flow of water with shut off valve by slightly turning knob till i got flow to match pumps flow. ta-da  i have my refugium. all together it cost me 80 dollars with plants mud and equip.will be alot cheaper if u buy from sale thread but i got a brain storm and went with it.anyone see a problem with this setup please respond just curious if this will work in long run.and also if anyone has ever tried this id like to know

Only problem I see is if the siphon breaks, you'll empty your sump onto the floor as it overflows the fuge. Also, if the pump ever slows due to clogging, your flow will be off and either the fuge won't drain enough or the siphon will break. I would drill the fuge and put a bulkhead and an elbow to drain into the tank. A bit more work, but less than a flood.

okay i listened to what digi said.i bought 3/4 drill bit from e bay couple of weeks ago , cost me 6 dolaars plus shipping and handling went and got 1 3/4 bulk head and drilled this 1/8 of an inch thick tank "scary but go slow and use alot of water" put a piece of pvc where i was going to drill, and crazy glued it.thats so i have stability when drilling.and cut a hole into 5 1/2 gallon tank.now it is complete.thanks for advise
