I want to add a overflow to my acrylic tank and I will have to cut the top, is it safe to do and what would you use to cut it? Thanks in advance for the info

Adding an overflow usually does not involve cutting the top of the tank. Are you sure you need to do that?
Typically, people cut the top/bottom off using a router. I have a piece of 4'X8' acrylic panel that I cut out using this method from a old tank's bottom.
