The Harbor Freight router is only a 1 HP router. I'm thinking that the higher the HP and Amps the router is, the better it's going to be for this and future course projects. Maybe Brian can chime in on this.

As routers go, usually the bigger the better. The more horsepower it has, the less likely it will bog down when cutting. The faster you cut, the larger the chips produced. The larger the chips, the more heat that goes with the chip, instead of staying with the bit, the cooler the bit stays, and the cooler the finished edge stays, resulting in a better cut. However, I'd say there's a cost issue, so it becomes an issue of personal choice, weighing the cost of the router against the number of future projects. Any of these routers should work fine for the project we're embarking on.
