foam block filter material

Where can I get open cell foam filter block material? The kind used as pre filters on allglass overflow kits or the kind used inside fluval filters. What does everyone else use

I would check the major mailorder places... marine depot, aquatic ecosystems, etc... they are your best bet (esp. aquatic ecosystems as they are huge and deal with all aquaculture). Failing that, ask at local fish stores.

No filter material is used on most reef tanks. What type of tank is it?

Its to be used in a DIY Calcium reactor (above and below the media)

I use sponges from the tile area at Home Depot. They are about 2" thick.
I cut them into circles the size of my reactor.
