Could someone give me a good DIY sump project

It really depends on what you're doing, but sumps are simple by design. All they have to do is hold water and provide a space for your equpiment (namely pump, skimmer, and heater). So simple, in fact, that a run-of-the-mill rubbermaid is a lot of people's sumps

Like Len said, simple works just fine too. It all depends on what you want and yor budget.
