pump fan removal

have you ever removed the fan from an external pump? i have a couple mak-4 pumps that i would like to quite down. they run TOTALLY cool to the touch while my fanless little giants get very hot. the fans really don't seam to move much air i figure if they get as hot as the little giants they would still be okay. in fact, given the bearing design of the mak-4's i would suspect they would generate less heat and even if they did would be more able to cope with it.

these suckers would be so dead quite without those fans... i imagine the same would go for several other brand pumps.

I would check with the manufactor to see if it is a good idea.

More likely than not, the engineers will suggest that this is not a good idea. 1, it void the warranty. 2, premature failure.

The fan is there for a reason. Try to put a burning cigarrette/smoke near the fan, and you will see how it move the air... you may be surprised.
