PVC vs ABS in skimmer

Hi;
Several questions:

I'm building a skimmer and a couple of the pieces might need to be ABS...is that okay or is ABS toxic to fish?

I can't find any PVC glue that specifically states it is non-toxic although all the glues say they are safe for potable systwms. Is this safe enough for the fish?

Finally, would aquarium Silicon be adequate to glue pvc/abs together?

I think ABS is fine for fish. Try to find out if it's okay for potable water, (okay for humans) then It should be okay for fish.

NO you can't use silicone to join abs/pvc/acrylic. Yeah, it will form a seal, and stick them toghether, but not well at all- You're looking at a catastopy later on.

Most plastic glues are toxic when in liguid form. once they are applied and cure/dry (or whatever the correct term is) they are non toxic. I also tend to give them a quick rinse before they go into the tank .( usually when I check for leaks!)

check out usplastics. They'll have the right glue to glue abs to whatever you want.
