Varnishing a stand

Any tips etc... on varnishing an old pine stand? Ive heard you can put some resin oil on it or something to that nature before you add the varnish...any help would be appreciated

Honestly, I just use SPAR urethane on any projects that are going to be subjected to a lot of water/moisture. That should do the trick.

For all your wood finishing questions, look to knucklehead. I swear, that man is truly gifted when it comes to wood.

What about polyurethane? Thats what I just used hopefully its ok?

Just got done with the stand...I sanded it down real well and added a stain on it...then later on added the AquaZar polyuerathane...turned out great so far
