I am new to this list and thought I might share a project I did a while back. I needed to cool my 20gal reef down a few degrees during the summer. Purchasing a dedicated chiller was not in my budget at that time. I tried the old dorm fridge trick and this never worked. So I broke down and bought one of these thermo-electric chillers. Mounting it on the side of my Bak-Pak seemed to make the most sense. It works for the most part. Sometimes my office will get real hot in which case it can't keep up, but it manages to keep the temp close to 80, even with my 96watt PC lights burning.

here is a self running pdf with pics - it is about 750kb so be patient while it loads....

Thanks Ratty, it seems to hold the temp around 80 fairly well, it probably only dropped my 20gal 2-3 degs. I am looking into getting a dedicated chiller for my 30gal project though. The skimmer still works great.

Regards,
Chris
