I have a couple of spare TGI 10" filter housings with white tops and clear bowls, 1/2" inlet & outlet.

I have thought about using these as a carbon reactor and a Rowaphos reactor with one of the clear filter casings with the screw on bottoms inside the main housing, and using a small powerhead to drive water from the sump and through the filter.

Does anyone know if the materials used in these are reef safe ?

Has anyone already tried this ?

Yes, it is reef safe, if you make sure there is no metal screw or spring for the air-relief valve... some filter housings has a red button on the cap with the valve.

FWIW, that's what I am using for a calcium reactor (calcium carbonate + CO2 instead of carbon or Rowaphos)

Once I get around to building a webpage, I'll have more pics up.

Here's a few.
