Tools of the Class (Routers, bits, tap wrenches, Weld-On...)

Can you go ahead and discuss the router (quality vs. cost) and tell us a good place to find the bit. All the flush bits I'm finding are no where near $40 so I assume I'm not finding the right one. Feel free to suggest brands and all to me - I'd rather pay for the right stuff up front!
