im looking to build my own 250w hqi light hood thinger. and i see the ansi M80 ballast from advanced transformer seems to be the right one for the job, my question if i want 2 bulbs do i build to seperate ballast? what is a duel tap? i am no electrician. !!

Yes. you will need two ballasts. But you can wire them together to one plug if you wish.

dual tap means the ballast is ready to be wired to either 110 or 220 volt. There's an extra wire you won't need on the ballast. just cap it off.

This ballast will drive one lamp.

There are such a thing as a dual PFO ballast such as this one, but it really is just two ballast mounted in a a single enclosure.

Dual taps usually refer to a ballast that can be hooked to different voltages depending on how you wire it.
