Pump and water supply

Greetings,

I came across this site while searching for aquarium plumbing tips, so I thought I'd join. I'm a freshwater guy, though I do have two brackish tanks up and running. Gimme a few years and I'm sure I'll have a saltwater tank for puffers or triggerfish...

I was hoping to get some feedback on my water supply:

This was my first DIY job with PVC, and I think it turned out okay. The problem is that not much water seems to be pumping through, so the turnover is low.

I think it is a combination of head pressure from the 90 degree turns and the small holes that the water is finally coming out of. I would get rid of the spray bar and put some reduced pvc fittings on the output. What pump are you using?

The pump is the Quiet One 3000:

I just found out that using the original manifold (pictured on my site), the original owner had a much stronger flow rate than I ever did with the exact same pump model (different actual pump) and setup. He could get water through all seven jets with all the valves completely open. I never even came close to this much water pressure...

There is also about the same number of 90 degree elbows on both manifolds.

I think maybe my pump is underpowered, but the lower turnover is apparently beneficial for my wet/dry biofilter.
