Hi,

I live in Nor Cal, and its a bit hot up here right now, and my tank is running around 82-85 F... I read somewhere on here that that is fine as long as i don't go over 85ish and keep it constant. Now my question is.. would a simple fan pointed at the top of my water hooked to a temp probe be enough to cool the tank when the temp goes up? AND I haven't fully cycled the HQI lights in yet so they are only running about 3 hours a day now, when i get thoes going to a full 10hrs a day that'll bring my temp up too right? .. Please don't say i need a chiller, trying to keep my tank bills down :D

100gal salt
2 250W HQI
2 95W PC

A fan over my tank keeps it about 82-84. I have a 20 gallon with a 150 HQI over it.

If you have a sump you can also add a fan there too.

A fan or fans will help alot. Personally I would not run the lights for 10 hours. I run mine for 6 and all is well. Also to help fight the temp I turn my MH lights on at 6 pm when the house is starting to cool down.
