where do i get black silicon for my DIY aquarium

hello,

where do i get black silicon? and how do i make nice joints? (like the oceanic tanks)

the aquadium will be a small 20 gallon.

to make nice straight seams, it seems like someone mentioned to use tape, then score the silicon at the tape intersection with the silicon.

any other tips?

all-glass aquarium makes it. it comes in a small tube and a large tube. if you order directly from them they can provide a cylinder for a caulking gun....

i have seen all three sizes at my LFS.... they could probably help you order it.

so all glass makes the black silicon?

i couldn't seem to find the black version on their website.

and my lfs doesn't seem to carry any black silicon.

I've used GE Window & Door Type I silicone many times with no problems. I've always used the clear stuff on my tanks/sumps but it comes in black as well. Check your local home improvement or hardware store. Avoid anything intended for bathrooms as they can have mold inhibitors in them.

you will have to ask for black specifically.. I know that if your LFS uses Central pet supply for their dry goods... they can order it for you. I think Lee-Mar uses their own sealant, they of course make their own tanks...
