Needle wheel pumps

Can you take a pump that has lets say one of them needle wheels in them and put them on a regular skimmer that took a maxijet 1200 at one time? Do I have to make some special mods for this pump to work correctly with this type of skimmer???

Depends on the pressure and flow specification, if they match well, it should be fine. Most needle-wheeled pump just don't have as much pressure and flow as its normal kins.
