I was wondering what people think would be the benefits and drawbacks to having an in-ground reef pond in a small greenhouse connected to a house. I am mostly wondering about the effects of the soil on the water temp.
If you dig it deep enough, it would help cool the water. I think you would have to dig it at least 5 -7 feet to have an effect.
There was a thead along time ago by Scubadude who built a greenhouse that contained reef tanks. He buried hundreds of feet of 4" PVC deep and pushed the system's water through it to cool it down. It worked well for him.
